(Art) Space - The Final Frontier

As artists, we're always trying to find space to exhibit our work...

Yesterday I had the slightly surreal experience of seeing too much available wall space to fill!
City University Business School, near Moorgate, London is in need of art for their walls. We're talking about (potentially) 5 floors of space!

(Note: This is a professional business environment, and not a gallery!) If anyone would like more info, drop me an e-mail and I'll pass on your details :-)

I'll have a selection of work, mainly from my Fleeting Glimpse collection at the Knapp Gallery in London from this Sunday. (See the 2010 Exhibitions column on the right for details and links).

In Design?

We spent today with the aim of visiting the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour. It wasn't what we'd expected, not having been there before - a strange mix of high end furniture, floorings, wall papers and lighting. The best part was the long walk in the sunshine between Kensington, Chelsea and several bridges before heading back! Not much of a work day in the end, but thoroughly enjoyable!

Lauderdale House Craft Fair

                    My display at Lauderdale House.

Saturday was looking dreadful with torrential rain all day, so I wasn't holding out much hope for Sunday in Highgate... And then as if by magic (and a foggy start), Sunday turned out to be dry and almost sunny all day, although very cold! Despite being a relatively slow day, I was lucky enough to have lots of enthusiastic comments and buyers and I soon forgot about the cold! Thanks to everyone who came along and to fellow artists for their support too (you know who you are!).

A Grand Day Out

We spent a day yesterday being tourists in London. After jumping on lots of buses, seeing the sights and 'taking tea' at the V&A, we took a boat along the Thames to end the day at the O2 arena to see a band. The only downside was that the return boat was so slow getting back that we missed the last tube and had to catch an equally slow bus back to the train station. Luckily, after sprinting up the stairs, we just caught the last train home at 12.40 (by a margin of 20 seconds). Welcome to London - the city that never sleeps, apart for the transport system which gets ready for bed at midnight!

100% Design

We've spent the day at the '100% Design' exhibition at Earl's Court today. There were lots of innovative and occasionally, whacky pieces of homeware available. Lots to inspire, think about and contacts to follow up! The only disappointment? - Sandwiches at over £5 and undrinkable 'coffee' from one of the cafes on site! Only in London, eh?

Chelsea Exhibition

Just one more day to prepare for the Chelsea show. It's amazing how much 'stuff' you need apart from the artwork! Leaflets, brochures, banners, lighting, and packaging as well as all manner of tools, screws, tapes, extension cables and pieces of wood - the list is endless. The on top of all that there's the wonderful drive into London, congestion charge and parking to deal with. Oh yes and the bit I'm really looking forward to... three days of showing off my latest work. I can't wait to get going now! The best part is that unlike many shows, entry is free, so I hope you get a chance to come along.

Exhibition time

I've been busy printing and preparing for my first 'real' gallery exhibition, Light Sculptures' at Lauderdale House in Highgate, London. I'm really excited about this show, as I've produced new images, all printed or mounted in acrylic frames, which look very impressive! Here's a peak of one of the new images. If you can come along, click on the title above to find out more.

Making a Splash in London

I'm really looking forward to returning to Adam Street, a private members club in Charing Cross, London, to show 'Splash'. This is one of my favourite pictures and it looks very dramatic mounted on acrylic. (The picture above was taken at last years' show at Lauderdale House, Highgate).

Although Adam Street is a private club, you are able to visit the exhibition by appointment. Contact them on 020 7379 8000.

More details are on the Events page of my website.

Come to Islington!

We spent a couple of hours last night setting up the display for the Islington Art and Design fair, which looks very colourful! I'd normally leave a lot more space between the pictures, but I wanted to show a representative sample of work and styles. The lighting is a bit flat which subdues the colours a little, but overall I'm happy with the display - so all you need to do now, is come along! The opening times are Friday 12th:2-8pm, Sat,Sun: 12-6pm. 3 Torrens Street (just behind Angel tube stn), Islington, London EC1V 1NQ.
