The Sky at Night

'Celeste'                                                     'Aquarius'
My two new commissioned images are almost ready. They are designed to work together and will certainly look very striking displayed in acrylic!

A Newer Moon

I've been working on a commission for a matching pair of images based on the picture 'New Moon'.
I can't give too much away yet, but this is a very small part of one of the new images...

The X Factor

Maybe that should be The X Files? - I have a very special presentation I'm working on, but it's, well (Shhhh) top secret ;-) It will hopefully result in a new commission, but that's all I can say for now. I'll reveal details in a tantalising fashion as things progress, so you'll just have to come back to find out more!

A Happy Customer

I finally delivered my commissioned image titled 'Northern Lights' today, (although it still needs to be fitted into it's custom made frame). As you can see from the whole picture above it's a very panoramic format. Click on the image to see a bigger version.
The subject is part of the circumference of a glass vase with a slight iridescent finish. A total of sixty individual images were taken and stitched to form one large high resolution picture - almost a weeks work to create and process.

I'm hoping to be able to show you the final piece in situ, but that may be a while yet!

We need a bigger house

I've finally got hold of my large panoramic print, titled 'Northern Lights'. One worry over! The next problem was trimming the print to size, which at almost 12 feet long, only left one option, the living room floor!
Still, job done and carefully repackaged for delivery I can relax for a while. I'll post more about the print in my next blog.

The Long Wait

I'm awaiting my super large panoramic print with trepidation. It's due tomorrow, but the anticipation is distracting! Will it look ok? Will it be good enough? Have I done the right thing?
As soon as I've snatched it from the courier's hands tomorrow, I'll let you know!

Gazebo Time!

I finally got my mega-file uploaded so it's in the hands of the printer now..... In the meantime, it's so nice outside, I've put up a mini gazebo to prepare for the obligatory barbecue's this weekend!

Printing woes

It's been a very frustrating day. It turns out that Photoshop will only print up to a certain file size without additional special software, so my plans have suddenly changed. I'm now uploading it to a specialist printer via the web. More frustration, as its a 900Mb file - it's going to take a very long time to send!

A lot of a Pane

My large scale commissioned work (see below) also has a very large frame! It will be mounted between two sheets of glass about 3.8m wide, so the logistics are pretty tricky. The print will have to be exactly the same size and semi installed on one sheet before the cover glass can be fitted. It's all a bit scary but very exciting and I can't wait to see it finally in position!

Vibrant Lights

I mentioned working on a large commission. Above is a very small section of the image. It's a very bold and colourful piece! The subject is about an 8cm section of iridescent glass. As the final image is almost 4m wide, it took 60 images to get the quality required!

What no Blog?!

I've been neglecting my blogging duties - sorry! I've been working on a large scale commissioned piece which has resulted in four images for the client to choose from. I'm itching to show some examples, but I'll wait until the final piece has been chosen.
I've created interpretations of a landscape/sea view. As the piece is almost 4m wide, image quality is as important as the image. In real terms this translates into very large file sizes! (980MB in one case). To achieve this meant taking many images and stitching them together - 60 images in one case. Meanwhile, I'll try not to leave it so long until my next blog!

A Stitch in Time

I've started work on a large commissioned piece which is a real challenge. At almost 4m wide, it's also a technical challenge from a quality point of view. For my first version, I've taken 60 images which will be stitched seamlessly together to create one large high resolution image. It's a very time consuming process, and I'll post some images when it's nearer to completion.

Exhibition on now!

We delivered four framed pictures to the Obsidian Gallery, Bucks., this afternoon for the show running for a month from 23rd April. There's also a first outing for 'Field with Sheep' (pictured, waiting for display), in a 50x70cm frame. I'll also be showing my favourite narrow sea picture, 'Drift Away'.
On Wednesday I have a meeting for a very unusual piece of art, which is in the planning stages at the moment. I'll keep you posted on developments!
