Tray Red

The only downside of imaging red coloured water droplets, is the gory looking tray of red water used to catch and create the splashes.
It was a bit like something out of a horror movie... and food colouring is surprisingly permanent! It took ages to get the red, blue and green dyes I've been using from my hands. I think I'll stick to clear water for a while...

Seeing Red

Today's been spent creating red splashes. (Another 600 or so images taken, but only two or three nice pictures). Here's a simple but calming image...

A New World

I've been having crazy ideas about an exotic new water world inhabited by drops, leading out their lives in the blink of a human eye. Yes, I know,  I must have read too much Tolkien as a kid!
It's turning into a novel in my mind the more I think about it. So today I'll be taking a few more pictures to see what new 'characters' emerge...

How to spike a drop

Just for fun, I wanted see how a single drop would interact with a spike! (Well, why not?!)
This series of images are separated by intervals of 1/1000s.

The Triple

I spent yesterday trying to capture a triple mid air splash. I came tantalisingly close but I was still disappointed with the result. It's a tricky call! I'm off to try again today and I'll post some results later (hopefully).

On Reflection...

This is a test shot from the whole day on Sunday trying out a new idea. When I finally achieved a result, this is what I got. The real problem is in the ghost image - can you tell what I was trying to achieve?! This is one I'll definitely come back to at a later date!

Moody Blues

Today didn't go at all to plan. My original idea didn't work out, so I changed tack and put a new spin on an old setup. Rather than using filters, I dyed the water instead, giving an alternative twist to a familiar subject and ending the day on a high note!

Double Intended

I managed to capture a couple of good images today, but this is the one I was aiming for! After over 300 exposures and 7 hours work, I only achieved one shot with a double mid air collision. It would be great to get even more symmetry (just for fun), and then three double splashes. I'm not good at maths, but what's the chances of getting the triple?!

A good day's work

I'm really happy with today's session so far. Here's one of my fave's from today!
