Today has been very special. An invitation to a garden tea party at Clarence House, London. Moreover, a garden party hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales.
So, why were we there? I entered a photograph in a national photographic competition, and won a prize for my entry!
Having said that, the day started ominously. As we arrived at Green Park tube station, we were soaked in a downpour. And, waiting by the entrance to Clarence House, watching the guards stomping around, I was narrowly missed by a sizeable falling branch. I think it would have been game over if that had landed on my head!
Fortunately, after that, it just got better and better. The sun came out, we had Earl Grey tea in the wonderful garden, salmon and cucumber sandwiches (no crusts), canapes of deliciously varying types, and tasty little 'mini deserts'...
Then a presentation by His Royal Highness, a few speeches, and prizes given out. All in all, a very pleasant and entertaining day out. I'm sure that won't happen again in a hurry, but the memories have been fantastic!
(We weren't allowed to take pictures in the gardens, but there will be some official photos soon)
