Tale of Misery from a Rubbish Bank

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin to rant...

As if it wasn't bad enough the banks bringing the country to its knees, us bailing them all out, and getting no interest on any savings, this happens... We both wanted to transfer an ISA to Nationwide building society earlier this year. Note, I said 'transfer', not open multiple ISA's, which is of course illegal. This involved merging two existing Nationwide ISA's and the transfer from another bank. Having explained this, we duly received the forms, had them checked by Nationwide counter staff and waited patiently for our new passbooks to arrive (one for each of our applications).

Three weeks later my passbook arrived. Two days later, another passbook appeared. Confused, I trotted to our local branch to find out what was going on. I was confused. They were confused but 'Things would be sorted out'. Four days later another passbook appeared! I now had three new cash ISA's ... Back to the branch. More confusion. Letters of complaint followed. We were then accused of opening multiple ISA's, illegally. By now, we were upset and angry! More complaints resulted in a muted apology with a reminder that we shouldn't have opened multiple ISA's! Aaaaaaargh!

Needless to say, after all that hassle and incompetence, we're now taking all our money out of the Nationwide, and moving it somewhere else. We've just found out that Nationwide have sent the wrong forms to the new bank. They are an act that would be truly hard to follow! The story, I'm sure will continue...  :-(
